Temple Grandin was born on August 29, 1947 in Boston Massachusetts, United States. At the age of 2, Temple was diagnosed with autism, which is a developmental disorder that lessens the ability to communicate and connect with other people. Temple is a professor of animal science at Colorado State University, an autistic activist, and a consultant to livestock industry on animal behavior. Temple had two very close friends , her teacher and her blind roommate who she connected with strongly because she felt in a way they were both the same. Temple wasnt in a relationship and never had children because she asserted that she was married to work.
Temple had received bachelor’s degree in psychology from Franklin Pierce College, a master degree in animal science from Arizona State university, and a doctoral degree in animal science from the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign . She was afraid of doors that opened and closed on their own. The problem was so severe that she would go to another store because the store that she first wanted to go to had that type of door. Until a soman had told her to look at them as if they were a new opportunity. She invented a new system that helped cows to not be treated as bad. Temple also invented a type of machine called “hug machine” that helped her relax , the design of the machine came from a machine that helped cows calm down. Another reason why she is famous is because she is writer, she has written books like The Way I See It: A Personal Look at Autism and Asperger’s, Animals Make Us Human: Creating the Best Life for Animals, and many other titles. Temple currently is an professor of animal science at Colorado State University and lives in the state of Colorado.
Temple was afraid of going through automatic doors until a woman taught her to look at going through them as a new opportunity. If that woman didn't give her that nudge she would've never taken the chance. You really can never know what you're capable of until you try . Challenges or obstacles will always be in your way but you have to learn how to defeat them to make a better person of yourself. Failing is inevitable but how you react to it is what really matters.
